Canvas & Cocktails

Canvas & Cocktails, in Cherry Creek North, Denver CO, is a clever blend of art--usually a solitary pursuit--and socializing. Thus the curious moniker on the sign as you enter the shop.

Playing on the idea that human creativity is universal, as is the need to connect, Canvas & Cocktails offers a way for regular folks to explore their artistic side with the help of the owners, who know their way around acrylic paint and canvas.

The space is open and inviting, with rows of work tables already set up with easels, and lots of colorful paintings on the walls for inspiration.

There are also tempting displays of jewelry and unique personalized handpainted gifts, including custom pottery, made by local artists. Next time you're on your way to a party and need an original item to wrap up and give, there's a fun collection here.

The shop's been open for about 6 months and offers classes in acrylic painting. There's a complete schedule at canvasandcocktails.com, including fun night-time events, where you can "enjoy an evening of entertaining art instruction. The best part? You will go home with a painting you can call 'uniquely yours' and hopefully a new found talent you'll want to explore."

Eccentricity, Personal Attention and Service

Eccentricity is more of a lifestyle shop than simply a boutique.

Along with a collection of women's clothing artfully selected to compliment the stylish inclinations of its loyal customers, the store also offers artisan-made gifts for tabletop and home decor.

This is a one-stop-shop for everything from feminine underthings to cashmere sweaters, sharp separates, pajamas, and an extensive line of accessories, including hobo bags, backpacks, briefcases, Lucchese boots, fashion scarves and jewelry.

Owner Gayle Larrance knows her customers and caters to their individual fashion goals. "We offer clothes for women with style who don't want to dress like teenagers," she explains. "Eccentricity is intended to be a fun, welcoming place with gifts, jewelry and clothing that would not be found in other places."

Fashion lines she carries include Oui, Babette, and Lilla P., among others.
